- James Broadhurst (MBA '66) is the chairman of Eat'n Park Hospitality Group, a diversified food service company that handles everything from Smiley cookies to upscale catering at the Carnegie museums of Pittsburgh. Broadhurst is a 2011 University of Pittsburgh Legacy Laureate.
- In Memoriam: Board of Visitors Member William "Bill" Dietrich II

- William S. Dietrich II leaves behind a legacy of more than $400 million in gifts to Pittsburgh colleges, including $125 million to Pitt. The philanthropist and former steel industry executive served on the Board of Visitors at the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration.
- Pitt Alumni Make Strong Showing at Atlanta Happy Hour Event

- More than 100 Pitt alumni turned out on October 7 for a special happy hour event hosted by Pitt Business at a brewpub restaurant near Atlanta. Graduates from the business school were a strong contingent and many also attended that week's 2011 National Black MBA Association Conference in Atlanta. In the coming year, the Pitt Business alumni association expects to host more events across the U.S. and world.

- Carrington Carter (MBA '08) has been named product manager on the oncology franchise marketing team at Bristol-Myers Squibb (BMS), a global pharmaceuticals and biotech company that had $19.5 billion in sales in 2010.
- New Energy Society Opens Doors Into Growing Industry

- Pitt has its first graduate-level club devoted to the energy society, the University of Pittsburgh Energy Society. The club - the creation of a first-year MBA student and Pitt law student - aims to connect grad students with the region's top energy companies.
- Road Warriors Make 5-Hour Commute for Executive MBA Worldwide Program

- Muhammad Chaudhry and Mansoor Ahmad travel from Washington, D.C. to Pittsburgh for their EMBA classes. The 250-mile trip can try their patience. But both say the travel time is worth it, as Katz is a superior value compared to the business schools offering EMBA programs in the D.C. metro area.
