Message from Jim Waite
Next month marks my first anniversary as your director of alumni and constituent relations. Serving in this capacity has been one of the most rewarding, awe-inspiring, and enriching experiences of my professional life. With more than 25,000 alumni worldwide, Pitt Business graduates are creating a positive impact on the world of business. I am thoroughly enjoying my association with this group of amazing and talented individuals, and I look forward to meeting and interacting with many of you over the coming months and years. I have especially enjoyed my interaction with your Pitt Business Alumni Association Board of Directors and can assure you that they are the driving force behind our many successes this past year.
Thanks to all of you who joined us at alumni gatherings around the country. We had a great time networking at Heinz Field, cheering on the Panthers at Pitt basketball watch parties, socializing at Dave & Buster's in New York City, tasting wine in Philadelphia, distributing awards at the Senator John Heinz History Center, and watching baseball games in Chicago and Erie. What a great year!
I am most excited to welcome you back to campus next month, October 23-25, for Homecoming 2009. Consider attending all or some of our alumni activities and help us celebrate Homecoming 2009 Pitt Business style. With 11 FREE events happening we know there is something of interest to you and your family. Please visit our web site http://www.business.pitt.edu/alumni/events/homecoming.html for complete details and make a commitment to stop by and say hello. Some of our signature events include the Katz Executive Women's Panel (October 23, 3 p.m.); Alumni Networking Reception/Open House (October 23, 5 p.m.) and the CBA Alumni Celebration and 10-Year Anniversary Reunion Brunch (October 25, 11 a.m.). A big thank you goes out to Regis Welsh (BBA '62), president of Regis Marketing Group, who provided us with complementary Pitt Business take away gifts for everyone who attends one of these events.
If you can't make it back to Pittsburgh, don't fret as Pitt Business will again be on the move both domestically and abroad this academic year visiting alumni in São Paulo, Brazil; Miami, Fla.; Piscataway, N.J.; Philadelphia, London; Paris; Frankfort; Tokyo; Seoul; and Taipei. Visit our Web site for additional details about all these trips.
Finally, both my assistant Linda Werner and I ask for your assistance. Please connect with us and share the ideas and expectations you have of our Alumni Relations Office. What programs and services would you like to see us coordinate in the future? Our role is to serve you, and I want you to feel that you can always come to us with your comments and suggestions. Take care and remember...
Hail to Pitt!
Sincerely,
Jim Waite
