Mission

The David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership seeks to be a leading academic institute in the understanding, promotion, and development of ethical leadership.

We explore the interface between ethics and leadership, emphasizing the interdependence between these two concepts. It supports the idea that both leadership and ethics are necessary for effective decision making and for defining and executing the mission or vision of the organization.

Focus

The center focuses on three key activities:

Knowledge creation

To create new knowledge, the center will support groundbreaking research that contributes to the integration of theory and best practice on leadership and ethics in organizations.

Education

In education, the center will support activities and programs that help students to integrate ethical principles into their leadership performance. The center aims to achieve this initially by creating an innovative program in leadership development and ethics for business undergraduates, with appropriate scholarship assistance.

This program will involve advancing knowledge in ethical leadership; developing the knowledge and skills essential for effective ethical analysis and leadership performance; providing opportunities for mentoring in ethical analysis and leadership, and service-learning activities in the community; and helping students develop relationships with organizations committed to ethics and leadership.

Knowledge dissemination

To disseminate knowledge, the center will engage in a range of activities, including conducting seminars to inform the dialogue between practitioners and scholars, publishing classroom materials, and sponsoring national meetings to explore key ethics/leadership issues.
