Pitt Business Analytics Case Competition

The Pitt Business Analytics Case Competition is offered in partnership with the David Berg Center for Ethics and Leadership and platinum sponsor DICK'S Sporting Goods. The national analytics-driven business strategy challenge requires undergraduate students to use data analysis techniques to solve pressing issues in the retail space, and to provide recommendations to a panel of judges.

Students enrolled at undergraduate business schools from across the United States are encouraged to apply for the competition. Teams must include between three to five students.

 

Competition Background

March 22 and 23, 2018

The competition will give student teams the opportunity to solve a real-world problem outlined by DICK'S Sporting Goods that has applications to analytics in the retail industry. Teams will have two weeks in advance of the competition date to prepare. Teams will then participate in two competitive rounds at the DICK'S Sporting Goods headquarters.

Participants will present to a panel of DICK'S Sporting Goods executives.

League of Emerging Analytics Professionals (LEAP)

LEAP is the student organization that has the lead role in organizing and running the 2018 case competition. The organization functions as an outlet for analytic opportunities for students across all academic areas at the University of Pittsburgh. The three main pillars of LEAP are education and awareness, experience-based learning, and career and professional development.
