Blessing Unwana Umoh (MBA ’25) is among the Top 100 Best and Brightest MBAs from Poets&Quants, representing the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business. The list celebrates graduating MBA students who are leaders inside and outside the classroom.
On the first day of every fall semester, staff and faculty stand outside of Mervis Hall and cheer for University of Pittsburgh School of Business students as they enter the building for their first class. This event stuck with Umoh. She says, “That tradition was a reminder of the supportive and vibrant community we were part of, setting the tone for the months ahead.”
Umoh, a Nigerian native, loved her time in Pittsburgh. The city’s rich history, cultural diversity, and sports culture bring people together. She says, “The strong sense of community made the city feel like home.”
It was important for Umoh to be deeply engaged in the Pitt Business community. She represented the school at both the National Black MBA Conference and the Grace Hopper Conference. She worked on projects with leading organizations through real-world learning opportunities like Lean Sigma and the David Berg Center for Ethics & Leadership Fellowship program.
She is most proud of her achievements as a Berg Center Fellow, working on integrating Black American farmers and local businesses into a farm’s workforce and supply chain to maximize social impact in Pittsburgh. “I had the opportunity to apply ethical leadership and strategic thinking to a real-world challenge, bridging the gap between business objectives and community development. It reinforced my belief that business can be a force for the social good, shaping my approach to leadership and decision-making. This initiative pushed me to think beyond traditional business metrics, focusing on long-term economic, social, and environmental sustainability,” she says.
“Blessing Umoh is an exceptional student and leader whose academic journey and extracurricular achievements are a testament to her resilience, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to excellence,” says Associate Director of Career Development, Jennifer O’Toole. “Beyond her accomplishments, Blessing possesses natural traits that make her a standout individual.”
After graduation, Umoh will be joining Amazon as a Pathways Operations Manager. Read her full profile here.
