Chris Curd

Greetings! My name is Chris Curd, and, yes, I am old enough to be an advisor. In order to give you a greater sense of who I am and how I can help you navigate through the next few of years through life, allow me to tell you a little about myself.

I am a product of the College of Business Administration having graduated from the program in 2003. I consider this a plus when advising students because I have taken classes taught by many of the current faculty members, therefore giving me deep insight into the differences in faculty teaching styles.

My opportunity to attend Pitt came by way of receiving a full athletic scholarship to play football. For most Division 1 football players, the ultimate goal is to reach the NFL, play football for a long time and, most importantly, make a lot of money! To my surprise after many years of adversity and hard work during college, I actually was given a contract to play for the Atlanta Falcons. Obviously, I did not play for a long time nor did I make a lot of money, but I will always be proud of the fact that I did follow through with my goal. After being cut by the Falcons, I bounced around multiple Arena Football League teams to further my playing career and to ensure that the "itch" to competitively play the game was completely out of my system. In between playing seasons, I was able to land jobs and further my professional experience at major companies such as the National Football League and Pokemon USA, Inc.

Even as an undergraduate, I realized that football could only last for so long, and I wanted to explore other things that held my interest. Therefore, I aggressively finished my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in four years and then immediately entered into the Katz Graduate School of Business while still playing in my final season in 2003. After time away from Pitt to continue my football exploits and my professional development , I have returned to serve YOU, the student, by providing you with every ounce of knowledge and experience that I currently posses and continue to gain.

My approach is simple. Your time spent here at Pitt is about more than just academics, it has to be about your holistic development of yourself. I will do my best to help facilitate not only your academic decisions, but also help you to independently examine your social, work and life balance.
