Explore...Global Management

The global management major enables students to develop expertise in the management of people, processes, and policies in a global context. Areas of focus include the management of people across national and cultural boundaries; supply chain and operations; international economics; and global environment, policy, and regulations.

Skills Needed:

  • Learn at least one additional language and take part in a study abroad experience
  • Sharpen your public-speaking skills and communication skills between cultures
  • Demonstrate intercultural competency, sensitivity, and tolerance
  • Try to specialize in one area of business in addition to your Global Management major
  • Develop traits such as creativity, initiative, tenacity, a willingness to take risks and an adventurous spirit

Career Exploration Steps:

  • Participate in CBA's study abroad program - talk to Krysta Hougham in the CBA Academic Advising Office
  • Join the AIESEC or the Society for International Business student organizations to learn more about global opportunities and network with peers and professionals
  • Research firms with international interests
  • Job shadow or conduct an information interview with a professional in an organization that has divisions overseas or has international dealings
  • Find an international internship. Several study abroad programs incorporate internships at the same time, but they are usually unpaid
  • Entry-level positions are generally in the U.S., with mid-level positions involving some travel. Most organizations will hire employees with the most experience or skill set for international projects. Be prepared to prove yourself in an internship or entry level position
  • Utilize the Going Global links through CBA Connect to research countries, cultures, and companies abroad
