It is important that you are making well thought out decisions when it comes to your next step. CBA Career Services is here to help you explore your options.
The likelihood that you will be more successful and satisfied with your next step is stronger if you take the time to examine the majors and careers in which you are interested. It is key to find out how your skills, interests and abilities fit with the career you are considering.
You can explore careers in a number of different ways through CBA Career Services:
- Self Assessment - By utilizing self assessment tools involving interest inventories and personality tests, you can learn how to relate your skills and interests to a business career. Tools like the Myers-Briggs and the Strong Interest Inventory, Skill Scan, or CareerLeader-College are offered through CBA Career Services and the University Career Development Office. These tools can help you figure out what business major(s) are best for you and/or what industry is a good fit.
- Career Consulting- Meet with a staff member to gain information and resources in researching what you can do with a major and what jobs and employers are common for that major.
- Participate in the Explore program series-these are employer panels that provide you with an opportunity to learn specific business majors.
- Participate in the Career Insights Program-these are groups focused on a specific job type. You will have the opportunity to learn more about these specific fields, how to be effective at finding a job and be able to network with employers and alumni in these job types.
- Job Shadowing and Informational Interviews-how do you know if you will like something (or won't like something) if you don't try it? By spending a day with a professional in the career you are considering you will experience the work firsthand. This will help you confirm this is the right choice for you or let you start thinking of other career options. Plus it is a great way to start building your professional network.
