Using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator for Greater Team Effectiveness

About This Program

This training will utilize the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) typology and approach to understanding personality types, preferences, and differences within teams to generate team cohesion and change.

Who Should Attend

Key finance personnel from various finance divisions in the global company

Learning Objectives

  • Participants will learn the preferences of the personality types
  • Participants will learn their own MBTI personality type
  • Participants will learn how to identify and utilize their opposite preferences depending on the situations or issues given
  • Participants will learn and practice operating from their opposite preference when communicating with other team members
  • Participants will develop culturally competent team building and communication knowledge to begin utilizing after the workshop. They will develop a set of outcomes to achieve and revisit at a later date.

Program Outline

This customized program will be delivered in a 6-hour format, including individual, dyad and small group break-outs. The end of day deliverable will include next steps and initiatives to continue to promote the team building across locations within the finance department.

Program Facilitators

Jody Bechtold

Jody Bechtold received both her undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Pittsburgh in Business and Social Work. She received her certification in the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) in 1999. This mix of academic training allows her to effectively identify and assist with the education, awareness and insight of people in business environments and creating effective change. A background in the technology field as well as owning her own training and consulting firms has allowed her to consult with numerous organizations over the years. From Leadership Kickoff Retreats to effective coaching courses to team building for teachers, Jody has been able to develop and deliver customized training programs for corporations over the past 10 years. In addition to her training with the MBTI, Jody has also been afforded the opportunity to train and implement Alcoa Business Systems (ABS) principles in human services organizations to create process improvements of work, work roles, and procedures of workers. Utilizing the ABS principles while having a strong knowledge of personality types and cultures has provided Jody with extensive experience in identifying and implementing changes necessary at any and all levels of organizations to build and sustain organizational changes. In addition to her consulting work, Jody teaches in the social work graduate program and is the Coach for the Certificate Program of Leadership and Ethics in the business school.
