Profile

Richard Franklin is an assistant professor of business administration in the Management Information Systems area at the Katz Graduate School of Business. He joined the Katz faculty in September 1997, after five years with Federated Investors, one of the largest mutual fund complexes in the country. As an assistant vice president in the Advanced Information Systems division at Federated, he was responsible for information technology development and support for systems used by over 1,500 people. Before joining Federated Investors, he consulted for Westinghouse, Alcoa, and U.S. Steel.

His areas of interest include business area analysis, business process design, relational data modeling, document management, work flow, client-server architectures including Web-based applications, and graphical user interface design. He continues to consult in these areas for the financial services and other industries.

Personal Interests

Professor Franklin maintains his interest in music via recording and composition. He is a member of ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers). His jazz compositions and recordings have been featured on DMX (Digital Music Express) and numerous radio stations in the United States, Europe, and Australia. His CDs have been purchased and music downloaded from iTunes and other sites by jazz lovers all over the world.
