Patricia Hughes is a Certified Public Accountant with more than sixteen years of service industry experience in the areas of Accounting, Finance, and Human Resources.
Hughes professional career began at the Trump Organization in Atlantic City, NJ in the Hotel Audit division. She was later promoted to Senior Accountant in the Financial Reporting Office and subsequently named Compensation Manager for the Human Resources Division.
After eight years in Atlantic City, Hughes was selected as a member of a core group to manage the opening of Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut, as Director of Employee Compensation and Benefits for an initial employee population of 6,000. After two years, she was recruited by the management of Sun International Inc. to become the Director of Employment, Compensation, Benefits and HR Information Systems for Resorts Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City.
Hughes earned an M.B.A. with high honors from Rutgers University in 2003.
Hughes began teaching for the College of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh in 2003. She became part of the contract faculty in 2007 and was named Assistant Professor of Accounting and Business Administration in 2008. She has taught a variety of courses, such as Financial Accounting, Intermediate Financial Reporting I & II, and Accounting Information Systems.
Concurrently, Hughes volunteers as a high-school CCD teacher and Finance Council Committee Member for St. Barbara's Church in Bridgeville, PA.
