Global Academic Partnership (GAP)
The University of Pittsburgh's Global Academic Partnership (GAP) supports interdisciplinary research projects linked to one of six key global themes:
- Sustainable Development
- Globalized Economy and Global Governance
- Changing Identities in a Global World
- Technology and Society
- International Conflict and International Conflict Resolution
- Global Public Health
The six GAP themes are inherently linked to the IBC's Economic Integration research theme. IBC cosponsors GAP projects on Economic Integration with two to four years of support for each project.
Each IBC sponsored GAP project involves a Katz School faculty project leader who teams with a faculty member from another University unit. They are responsible for pushing the research agenda forward and organizing a major, authoritative conference including experts from government, industry, and academics. As a grant requirement, the project leaders seek a journal or book publisher for papers presented at the conference and seek outside funding for the project. The conferences are held in conjunction with the Area Studies centers in UCIS, and, as appropriate, with other CIBERs or with other world centers. Read more »
