Study and Work Abroad for Undergraduate Business Students

The IBC supports individual students through scholarships and grants for Study Abroad, and also through developing new programs that allow students to travel and work in foreign countries.

Study Abroad is a long-standing program at the University. The program includes University exchange relationships with more than 16 universities throughout the world as well as several other institutions and organizations providing resources for study, work, and travel in multiple countries—including opportunities for global studies through programs that involve visits to multiple countries.

If you are an undergraduate business student interested in studying abroad as part of your program of study, there is a Study Abroad staff person available just for you! Click here for more information.

Plus3 Program—Winner of the 2005 Andrew Heiskell Award for Innovation in International Education (more details)

The University of Pittsburgh is committed to providing undergraduates with great opportunities to work and study abroad. If you think you might be interested in traveling during your undergraduate years, but aren't sure, or if you want to get some "guided" travel experiences before committing to a full year of study abroad, the Plus3 program is for you. This program is for freshman business and engineering students, and it's a three-credit, optional add-on to the CBA's required first-year course, "Managing in Complex Environments" (MCE), the first business course taken by freshmen and the School of Engineering's required first-year course, "Introduction to Engineering Analysis." Plus 3 involves a study trip abroad just after the spring term, with a maximum of 20 students, led by a Katz faculty member. As part of the experience, the students attend lectures delivered by local faculty, participate in company visits, and complete a research paper. The students will reassemble with their travel companions the following fall to present their research to each other and to students in the next Plus3 class. This program takes advantage of long-standing, strong linkages the Katz School maintains with the Universitat Augsburg, Germany, the Nanjing University of Chemical Technology, China, and the Universidad Santa Maria, Chile. For further information about the Plus3 Program please visit the Pitt Study Abroad website.
