Global Issue Workshop

The Global Issue Workshop course is an enhanced global Experienced-Based Learning opportunity. A select number of MBA students will have the opportunity to culminate their project research during this weeklong experience at the destination city in a team interacting with Pitt alumni, local business people, and other experts. 

2017 Destinations:

  • Shanghai, China: (March 6-10, plus travel before/after)
    • Focusing on expanding credit card usage across Asia
    • Faculty advisor: Andrew Washburn
  • Havana, Cuba: (May 1-5, plus travel before/after)
    • Focusing on preparing Cuban businesses for the lifting of U.S. trade restrictions
    • Faculty advisor: Bud Smith

It is preferred that interested students have prior overseas experience and/or EBL coursework. 

Eight students will be selected for each opportunity and will be required to attend several classes prior to the overseas travel. Course deliverables will include a white paper delivered to the company, presented at the destination prior to departure.
