In Their Own Words: What Students are Saying About Their Katz Experience

"As the import compliance manager and a licensed customs broker for Kennametal Distribution Services, I interpret U.S. import regulations for Kennametal locations around the world and for our foreign suppliers. I provide guidance and recommendations to ensure the legitimacy of Kennametal’s import transactions. In the post-September 11, 2001 economy, I also make security recommendations to foreign exporters shipping goods to the United States."

"My Katz coursework has definitely assisted me in being able to interact with Kennametal business unit executives and to understand issues of global strategic planning, foreign cultures and economies, finance, and ethics. All of these areas affect international trade in one way or another."

"My department translates federal documentation and handles claims for retirees from all U.S. Civil Service positions, both domestic and overseas, and those of their survivors. We also work with various consulates in investigating more complex international situations, including researching various Civil Service Retirement Laws to make benefit determinations. Two years ago, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management centralized their translation services in order to process retirees claims faster. Since then, the agency authorized the creation of an International Relations/Spanish Translation Department, which has decreased the processing time for overseas claims by 78 percent. I am proud to have applied many techniques from my MBA courses to create a more efficient workplace."
