MBA/Master of International Business Courses

 MBA/MIB students are required to satisfy the following program requirements:

  1. Complete 64.5 credits of graduate-level coursework in the following areas:
  • 22.5 MBA core required coursework credits
  • 16.5 MBA elective credits
  • 9 MIB core required coursework credits
  • 16.5 MIB-approved elective credits
  1. Maintain a minimum cumulative quality point average (QPA) of 3.0
  2. Complete a minimum of two years of University of Pittsburgh language education or the equivalent proficiency in a second language
  3. Complete a two- to three-month internship conducted overseas in the student's designated foreign language

 

MIB Required Coursework and MIB-Approved Electives

Both Full-Time and Part-Time MBA/MIB students are required to complete 9 credits of MIB core courses.

  • BECN 2509:   Global Macroeconomics I
  • BECN 2510:   Global Macroeconomics II
  • BECN 2019:   Economics of International Business
  • BIND 2700:    MIB Internship, including a paper and oral presentation

Both Full-Time and Part-Time students are required to take an additional 16.5 MIB-approved elective credits from the following list of courses:

  • BACC 2549:   Strategic Cost Analysis
  • BACC 2253:   International Accounting Issues
  • BECN 2504:   Managing Risk in a Global Environment
  • BFIN 2043:     International Finance
  • BIND 2526:    Business Process Redesign

  • BIND 2063:    Independent Study in International Business*
    *This option is only to be used as a last resort if the student is able to articulate a compelling case and a member of the faculty has agreed to oversee the course.

  • BIND 2800:    India Today, China Today, etc. (one-credit courses offered once a term over a weekend)

Study Abroad and Cross-Registration

Students have the option of being able to study for up to one term/semester abroad at a partner school, including the European Business School (Germany), the University of Augsburg (Germany), KEDGE Business School (France), or Santa Maria University (Chile) to fulfill up to 12 credits of his/her MIB elective course requirements.

Students would also have the option of taking elective courses from the School of Law or the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs as long as the student has received permission from the Assistant Dean of MBA Programs.
