Over the past century, our school has evolved significantly—from its origins in 1908 to becoming the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and the College of Business Administration.

As part of our recent strategic planning process, we recognized the need for a unified identity that honors our history while enhancing our visibility and positioning our community for future success. After extensive engagement with alumni, students, faculty, donors, and University leadership—and with the full understanding and support of the Katz Family —we are proud to announce a new formal name approved by the University of Pittsburgh Board of Trustees: the University of Pittsburgh School of Business.

This new identity reflects a unified brand across undergraduate and graduate programs, stronger alignment with the global recognition of the Pitt name, a clearer message for prospective students, recruiters, and partners, and a commitment to honoring our legacy while positioning our community for continued growth in quality and reputation. Importantly, the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business name will remain prominent — featured at the entrance of Mervis Hall and in all materials referencing our graduate programs in continued recognition of Mr. Katz’s enduring legacy.

At the University of Pittsburgh School of Business, home of our undergraduate program and the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, we are committed to providing our students and the community with the business information they need to stay relevant and be one step ahead of the constantly changing business environment.
