Katz Mardi Gras in October Fundraiser to Support Hurricane Katrina Victims

PITTSBURGH—October may seem like an unusual time to celebrate Mardi Gras, and Pittsburgh may seem like an unlikely substitute for the Big Easy, but an Oct. 22 fundraiser sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration will transform Jazzman’s Café into the French Quarter with proceeds benefiting victims of Hurricane Katrina. Festivities, which include the Leonard Johnson Jazz Quartet, will get underway at 5 p.m. in Jazzman’s Café, located on the basement floor of Mervis Hall, Roberto Clemente Drive, Oakland. All proceeds from the event will go to the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and the Humane Society of the United States.

In addition to live music provided by the Leonard Johnson Jazz Quartet, there will be food and a silent auction. A donation of $20 per person, $15 for students, is requested; please make checks payable to the University of Pittsburgh Those interested in attending are asked to respond by Oct. 20 by calling 412-648-1644.

This event is being made possible through the generosity of donors like Bowers’ Jam ‘N Jellies, Brucelli Advertising, Bucca di Beppo at Robinson Town Center, FirstLink, Frank Fuhrer, Rodolfo Hrosz]president of Domaine Chandon, Inc., Jazzman’s Café, the Leonard Johnson Jazz Quartet, Leed’s World, McGraw-Hill Publishers, the Pittsburgh Steelers, TGI Friday’s of Bethel Park, and many faculty, staff, students, and departments of the Katz School.
