MBA Student Executive Boards: Working Behind the Scenes for MBA Students

In many ways, the members of the Student Executive Board (SEB) and Evening Student Executive Board (ESEB) provide an important communication channel between the administration and the MBA student body. The SEB and ESEB presidents meet regularly with Dean John Delaney to discuss issues of mutual interest.

Additionally, both executive boards oversee a number of activities for philanthropic or social interests. The largest of the philanthropic efforts put on by the executive boards is the annual Monte Carlo Night. This year's Monte Carlo Night was held March 29 at the Sheraton Station Square and raised nearly $2,500 to benefit Animal Friends, a Pittsburgh animal shelter.

In 2007, Delaney presented the executive boards with the idea of creating a class gift fund. Class gifts are common at nearly every top business school in the country and provide students with an opportunity to leave a legacy. The members of the SEB and ESEB have worked closely with the University's Department of Institutional Advancement to communicate with their fellow students and raise funds for the class gift.

Student Executive Board representatives have also been instrumental in other efforts, including:

  • Volunteering for Special Olympics,
  • Volunteering for KABOOM! playground builds,
  • Steelers tailgate events,
  • Charity bar crawls,
  • Student networking and happy hour events,
  • Creation of a portal on my.pitt.edu for all student organizations, and
  • Serving on a number of committees and hiring panels.

All MBA students are encouraged to become involved with the SEB and ESEB.

For more information on how to get involved in student government activities, please contact the following SEB and/or ESEB members.
