Value Chain Management: Business Success in a Fragmented World

Supply chains of the manufacturing and transportation era have essentially become value chains, which have relevance in every type of organization and industry. Understanding what drives these value chains allows firms in any industry to prosper.

Value chain management potentially is a philosophy of organization that stresses the development of an appropriate mix of hard and soft skills to drive an organization’s results in a competitive marketplace. More than just the mathematical formulae that support upstream optimization efforts, business education must include exposure to optimal ways of managing people, information, and organizational relationships.
