NOTES FROM THE DEAN

To succeed in a global economy, one must persist like a marathon runner. Thus, an interesting parallel occurred earlier this month when, after a six year hiatus, the 20th running of the Pittsburgh Marathon took place while I was in China investigating partnerships to enhance the school's global reach. In each case, going the distance and focusing on key objectives drives success. The Pittsburgh Marathon promoted the city and region and my marathon trip promoted the school and University.

Marketing is Anything But Square

That was the take-away for students in Associate Professor Bob Gilbert's Projects in Marketing class this term. Over the course of the semester they conceived and implemented an integrated (as well as clever and creative) marketing campaign to introduce the Nissan Cube to their Generation Y counterparts across Pitt's Oakland campus. Having made a remarkable showing at the 2009 Pennsylvania Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) State Leadership Conference in April, 24 members of Pitt's chapter of PBL are headed to California June 20-23 in search of gold at the organization's National Leadership Conference in Anaheim. Business Alumni Association Honors Distinguished Alumni and Corporate Partner

Alumni of Katz and CBA gathered May 14 at the Senator John Heinz History Center in Pittsburgh's Strip District to honor some of their own.
