Several thousand members of Phi Beta Lambda, the world's largest and oldest business student organization, from colleges and universities across the country gathered June 21-24 for the organization's annual National Leadership Conference in Atlanta, GA. The University of Pittsburgh College of Business Administration's chapter was represented by five delegates and advisor Kate McConnell, director of CBA's Career and Leadership Development Center. The annual conference includes competitive events and workshops for students. The four Pitt students who participated in competitive events all placed in the top 10 of their respective events. Congratulations to:

  • Peter Cline, a junior majoring in finance, who placed second in the Financial Concepts event;
  • Steve Lerch, a junior majoring in marketing, who placed sixth in the Public Speaking event and seventh in the Impromptu Speaking event;
  • Justin Rosenkaimer, a senior majoring in finance, who placed ninth in the Statistical Analysis event; and
  • Ryan Varley, a senior pursuing a double major in accounting and finance, who placed second in the Contemporary Sports Issues event.

Also at the conference, McConnell presented a workshop, called Eye of the Tiger: Managing to Win, which provided insights into the effects of various management styles.
