Devesh Udasi (MBA/MS ’25), from the University of Pittsburgh School of Business, was named an MBA to Watch by Poets&Quants. This feature highlights some of the outstanding MBA students from schools worldwide.

Before enrolling in Pitt’s Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business, Udasi earned his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the University of Mumbai and worked in operations for Alpha Plus Technologies in Toronto and the APAC region. “Working directly with the CEO, I led the charge on our market entry strategy; everything from brand positioning and pricing to resource allocation and executing go-to-market plans for two new banking products. This role was a mix of strategic planning and on-the-ground execution,” he says.

He decided to enroll in the MBA and MS programs because of the University’s experiential learning programs, as “Pitt offers tremendous opportunities for students to get involved with clients either through projects or academic endeavors.”

Embraced Real-World Opportunities

This recent graduate took advantage of several opportunities to gain experience while still a student.

In Fall 2024, he worked with the Center for Sustainable Business as a sustainability fellow for Core Natural Resources and as a consultant for Avatar DPS. While these projects had stark differences in scope, they shared a common thread of strategic market analysis and stakeholder management. He spent the summer of 2024 as a technology fellow with Aerotech, Inc.

He also spent two weeks in Japan for the Global Research Practicum (GRP). During this time, he visited multiple companies, engaged with executives and alums, and conducted field research. “This trip significantly strengthened my ability to think globally,” says Udasi.

Udashi gave back to the Pitt Business community by serving as president of the Katz Corporate Sustainability Club as as a member of the Student Executive Board.

Professors and Peers Shaped His Journey

Udasi values the relationships he formed with the faculty, staff, and students at Pitt and credits Professor Tom Davis for having a tremendous impact on his academic and professional pursuits.

“As an aspiring consultant, I faced a few hardships during this transition from business development to consulting. Professor Davis not only helped me overcome those, but he also guided me towards the right direction,” he says.

He was also impressed with how the school creates an inclusive environment where students from diverse cultures can thrive. “It’s been amazing to see how intentional the community is about building bridges between cultures and fostering an atmosphere of growth and collaboration,” says Udasi.
