President & CEO, Boca Raton Regional Hospital
Jerry J. Fedele is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Florida, an academic affiliate of Florida Atlantic University and the primary graduate medical education facility for internal medicine and surgery residents. Under Fedele’s leadership, the hospital has soared to the #1 hospital in Palm Beach County, #3 in south Florida, and #13 in the state of Florida by U.S. News and World Report.
Prior to his role at Boca Regional, Fedele served as President and CEO of West Penn Allegheny Health System (WPAHS) which is now named Allegheny Health Network. He designed and implemented a plan to form WPAHS through the removal of Allegheny General Hospital and three western Pennsylvania community hospitals from the Allegheny Health, Education, and Research Foundation (AHERF) bankruptcy, the largest health system failure in U.S. history. In the 16 years of WPAHS’ existence, the years Fedele led the organization as President and CEO are the only years of organizational profitability.
Fedele spent the first ten years of his career as a corporate lawyer in Pittsburgh focused on technology, engineering, and construction agreements for materials handling, chemical and steel plant equipment, and facilities construction within the U.S., Europe, the Middle East, and Taiwan.
He currently serves as a frequent lecturer at Florida Atlantic University and on the Board of Visitors at the University of Pittsburgh Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration.
Fedele earned bachelor’s degree in mathematics and a master’s in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh. He also earned a juris doctorate from Duquesne University, where he was class valedictorian.
