Matthew Leavy, CPA, is the Senior Manager of Financial Planning & Analysis at Alcoa Corporation, based at the Company’s corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA. In this global role, he leads a team in providing critical analysis on Alumina and Aluminum business segment results, as well as consolidated analysis for the total Alcoa Enterprise. His responsibilities include managing financial forecasts, supporting external reporting, coordinating annual planning, and providing insights to drive business performance and strategic initiatives.
Before joining Alcoa, Matthew worked at Birgo Capital, a private equity real estate firm based in Pittsburgh, where he focused on driving strategic decision-making through fund and asset-level financial models, cash flow projections, and multi-year business plans. Prior to that, he was with DICK’S Sporting Goods in Finance and Internal Audit, focusing on forecasting, business performance analysis, and operational improvements. He began his career at Deloitte, gaining valuable experience in auditing for public and private clients across various industries.
In addition to his professional roles, Matthew leveraged his passion for education by supporting the founding of The Grad Plan™, a behavioral coaching platform. This platform helps students navigate important life decisions by blending self-paced decision-making tools with research-backed coaching to guide them in discovering strengths, exploring career paths, and building personalized plans for college, trades, entrepreneurship, or direct-to-work options. Its unique approach, grounded in behavioral science, empowers students to find their best path forward.
A proud University of Pittsburgh graduate, Matthew earned both his Bachelor’s degree in Finance and his Master’s degree in Accounting from Pitt. Since 2019, he has also been an Adjunct Professor of Accounting at the university, where he has taught Financial Accounting and Auditing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, helping students build a strong foundation in accounting and finance topics.
