Profile

Dr. Michael Carriger, MS, DMgt is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Katz Graduate School of Business
and College of Business Administration at the University of Pittsburgh. He earned his Doctor of
Management Degree from the University of Maryland, University College. He teaches both graduate
and undergraduate courses on various topics in management, including strategy, organizational
behavior, and business communication. His research interests include instructional technology,
management education, leadership development, leadership communication, employee engagement,
and human resources as a strategic business partner. Formerly he worked as the Director of
Instructional Innovation and Director for the Center for Excellence and Innovation in Teaching and
Assistant Professor of Management at Sacred Heart University and Director of Executive Education at
Carnegie Mellon University.

Personal Interests

Michael loves reading, especially about management, leadership, and higher education. He listens to too
many political podcasts. He likes music made by people old enough to be his great-grandparents
(classical) and young enough to be his children (alternative rock). He hikes weekly with his Brittany
Spaniel, Tristan. He is also an avid and aspiring chef, exploring cuisine from around the world.
