Meet rising-senior Elisabetta Tolomeo. The global management and marketing major embarks on her final year of her undergraduate program this fall. In the first of a two-part series, we catch up with her and see how she’s feeling about the beginning of a life-changing year. Do you remember the feeling you had entering your senior year?
Why did you choose to attend Pitt Business?
I chose to attend Pitt Business because it offers strong academics, career opportunities, and an amazing community. Coming into college, my goal was to build meaningful connections and get involved in organizations and leadership opportunities!
As you begin your senior year, what feels most exciting right now? What feels uncertain or challenging?
As I begin my senior year, the future feels both exciting and uncertain. Preparing for life after graduation, finding the right career path, and transitioning into the professional world are things I’m both looking forward to and worried about at the same time.
Looking back so far, what experience has shaped you the most so far?
Being so involved with the University has been such an amazing experience and it has truly shaped me. Currently, I am the President of the Blue and Gold Society, the Campus Engagement for Pitt Dance Marathon, an active brother of Delta Sigma Pi Business Fraternity, and a Standards board representative for the Alpha Epsilon Phi Sorority! Through these organizations and leadership opportunities, I’ve gained confidence, built lasting relationships, and learned valuable skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
How have you changed since your first year?
Since my first year, I’ve grown both personally and professionally. I’ve become more confident in myself, more comfortable stepping into leadership roles, and better at managing my time and responsibilities.
What are your goals for this year?
My biggest goal for this year is to have the best senior year possible while making the most of every opportunity. I want to create lasting memories with friends, stay involved on campus, continue growing as a leader, and prepare myself for a successful transition into my career after graduation.
What’s your dream job? Or what type of job do you want to pursue after graduation?
I’m not quite sure exactly what my dream job is, but I would love to be in international business – working with people, solving problems, and having a very successful career. A dream job would be working for a company like Google or Disney as some type of executive.
What advice would you give your first-year self today?
I would tell my first-year self to trust the process and embrace every opportunity that comes your way. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone! Everything may not go exactly as planned, but every experience will help you grow into the person you’re meant to become.
