Tracey D. Conti, MD (EMBA ‘24) from the Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business at the University of Pittsburgh is among the Poets&Quants’ 2024 Best and Brightest Executive MBAs across the globe. The list celebrates students from the Class of 2024 who embody the excellence and voices of their schools. These students are considered to “personify excellence – be it academic performance, extracurricular involvement, or professional achievement.”

Passion for Helping Others

Conti describes herself as, “an advocate for equitable healthcare, addressing disparities and improving healthcare delivery to underserved communities.”

One look at her impressive career and it’s evident she’s focused on these goals. In addition to being the chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine/ UPMC, she finds the time to share her talents with the community.

She holds volunteer leadership positions at Women for a Healthy Environment, Equitable and Just Greater Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania American Diabetes Association, Black Equity Coalition, and 9th Street Free Clinic.  Conti is proud of the impact her community service work has on individuals and the community and at her leadership role at the School of Medicine/UPMC, saying “This achievement represents a significant milestone in breaking barriers and promoting diversity and inclusion in Academic Medicine.”

The Business Side of Healthcare

Conti chose the Katz Executive MBA in Healthcare program for its immersive and comprehensive learning experience. The program is completed in sessions held one weekend per month for 19 months and includes experiential-based learning with a dynamic network of talented and experienced executives.  “Being fully immersed in a dedicated learning environment allows me to focus on the curriculum being presented, engage in experiential learning opportunities, and build valuable relationships with my classmates and faculty,” Conti says.

She’ll graduate later this year and has already applied what she has learned, “I have enhanced my effectiveness as a physician leader by applying the skills I have learned around team management, driving financial sustainability, and delivering high-quality patient care.”
