Profile

Shannon Garavaglia is an Assistant Professor of Business Administration (Accounting) at the University of Pittsburgh. Her research examines how individual investors acquire and integrate accounting information into their investment decisions, with a focus on questions that are of interest to accounting regulators and standard setters. She currently teaches intermediate financial accounting to undergraduate students and a critical thinking seminar to doctoral students.

Shannon has won research and teaching awards and has been published in leading accounting journals including The Accounting Review, Journal of Accounting Research, Contemporary Accounting Research and Accounting, Organizations and Society. She earned her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin and began her academic career as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Financial Accounting Standards Board.
