Program Requirements

The MAcc is a 30-credit, full-time master’s degree that most students can complete in two semesters. The program requires only six prerequisite credits for admission — two introductory accounting courses — making it accessible to students from any undergraduate background.

Prerequisite Courses — 6 Credits

These two courses are required for admission. They may be completed at any accredited institution (graduate or undergraduate level) with a grade of B– or better. Both courses are offered multiple times per semester at Pitt, including during the summer.

Who Should Apply?

Career Switchers

Students with an undergraduate degree in any field — business, humanities, sciences, engineering — who want to launch a career in accounting. After completing the two prerequisites, you will enter the program alongside your peers and complete all degree requirements in two semesters.

International Students

Students who earned their undergraduate degree outside the United States and are seeking a U.S. graduate accounting credential. The redesigned curriculum allows most international students to complete the degree in two semesters, even with limited prior U.S. accounting exposure.
